POPulus puts music industry students in the spotlight

POPulus is a pop music ensemble consisting of TROY student musicians from a wide array of backgrounds and genres.

POPulus is a pop music ensemble consisting of TROY student musicians from a wide array of backgrounds and genres.

Hip-hop, hard rock and country aren’t musical genres typically associated with university bands.

But a group of Troy University students, under the guidance of faculty member Robert Smith, is not only writing and recording within those genres, but performing at area festivals and even releasing albums.

Special Olympians from throughout Alabama will compete in the 11th annual Alabama Special Olympics State Games at Troy University May 19 – 21.

Nearly 1,000 athletes and approximately 350 of their coaches and chaperones will compete May 19 – 21 in the Special Olympics Alabama State Games at Troy University.

This year’s event marks the 11th anniversary of Special Olympians competing at TROY.  This year’s theme is “Making a Difference”.
