”Celebrating Radio’s Role In the Civil Rights Movement” – TPR’s In Focus – Feb. 7, 2023

The Alabama Department of Archives and HIstory is celebrating Black History Month with a family event on Feb. 11.  Richard Trammell, Education Curator and Tour Coordinator, and Sam Christensen, Exhibit Curator, talk with Carolyn Hutcheson, In Focus host, about radio’s role in the Cvil Rights Movement, with deejays like Shelley Stewart, who is an inductee in the Black Radio Hall of Fame.  Dr. Stewart will be at the occasion on Saturday to deliver a talk and appear at the Alabama Radio Moments exhibit. Montgomery’s Mayor Steven Reed will also read a children’s book about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
