TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 With Troy University’s new student orientation, also known as IMPACT, just one week away, TrojanVision members are sharing what items they wish they would have brought with them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This summer, Troy University plans to welcome over 1,300 new students for IMPACT. Over the next nine weeks, students will learn more about Troy’s campus and its programs, meet current students and get to know their fellow classmates. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Incoming freshmen will attend IMPACT’s regular two-day sessions. Transferring students will attend a one-day session. Each session includes check-in, games, a browse session that introduces students to Troy’s on-campus organizations, as well as academic advising.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With each day filled with a variety activities, students are encouraged to pack accordingly. With that in mind, TrojanVision asked some of its own members for their IMPACT essentials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sunscreen<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Sunscreen! During IMPACT you end up spending a lot of time outside, and during the summer with the UV being so high, it’s very easy to burn. \u2014 Nate Henderson, senior<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Comfortable walking shoes<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

I wish I had brought good tennis shoes because of all the walking, activities, games, etc. \u2014 Savannah Edgar, junior<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trojan ID<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Trojan ID, and ability to log in to your my.troy.edu<\/a> and email with your Trojan Pass credentials. \u2014 Caden Walker, junior and former IMPACT leader<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Your Face Card<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Make sure you look good for your ID pictures because mine is tragic. Shave, get a haircut, wear makeup, stuff like that so you don’t hate your ID photo like I do. \u2014 Ty Davidson, junior<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Full-sized Bedding <\/h4>\n\n\n\n

I wish I would have brought sheets that actually fit the bed. I brought ones that would work in my bed for Shack [Shackleford Hall] not knowing Rushing [Hall] was a different size. \u2014 Jimmy Nichols, senior<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mattress Topper<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Bonus Item: Rain jacket<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

One underrated item we always encourage incoming students to bring to IMPACT is an umbrella, a rain jacket, or both. Some of our activities in the IMPACT schedule are outdoors, but we will also be walking quite a lot on campus and going from building to building. Because of that, we highly recommend bringing rain gear in case the weather doesn’t cooperate fully with us! \u2014 Emily Dapprich, Director of New Student Orientation <\/p>\n\n\n\n
