TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 Students from the Upward Bound<\/a> program got a behind the scenes look at television news during a visit to Troy University’s television station. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seeing the news on television is one thing, but seeing how it’s made is another. For many Upward Bound students, a trip to Trojanvision offered a unique opportunity to see what happens behind the scenes of a live news operation. From the control room to the anchor desk, students explored the studio and discovered how teamwork and technology come together to bring stories to audiences each day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It was really fun, I’ve actually never done anything like that,” said Tyliyah Jeater, a student in the Upward Bound program. “It was cool to get a jist of being on camera and it was really fun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI would do it again. I really love the campus and the people here.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Along with touring the facility, students were introduced to TrojanVision’s hands-on approach and learned about the opportunities available to students interested in journalism and media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I really enjoyed them stepping out of their comfort zone,” said Kim Green, one of the faculty on the trip. “When they first came in they were quiet, not a lot of questions, but when we got them back into the production room they livened up quite a bit and were eager to participate and learn new things.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The visit also gave students a taste of live broadcast television by giving them the opportunity to act as anchors and production personnel in a mock broadcast. Green says students gained a greater appreciation for the work that goes into a newscast and the many people who help make it happen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“You always watch the news but never understand how it works in the actual room that they’re doing it in. So I thought it was interesting seeing how it’s staged, also all the different roles that come into play.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For many students, the visit offered more than just a studio tour; it provided a glimpse into the possibilities that await them after high school.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
