One of the latest production’s from Troy University’s Department of Theater and Dance will not debut on stage but over the airwaves. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The department is putting the finishing touches on “Tinyard Hill” a radio play written by Theater and Dance Lecturer Tommy Newman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Tinyard Hill is inspired by a series of interviews that my father did with a local blacksmith in my hometown of Hawkinsville, Georgia,” says Newman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The production is being recorded as an audio-only radio play at Three Frogz Studio in Brundidge for playback on TROY Public Radio in May. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The department is producing a radio play this year instead of an in-person production due to the pandemic. The change in format is providing a new experience for actors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“It’s been very different because it’s very intimate,” says Micayla Johnston. “It’s very particular because you’re in the studio and it’s all about what you’re hearing and there’s there’s not any spectacle to it which I’m not used to.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
