Ala (<a href=\"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/troyuniversityanthropology\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Anthropology Club<\/a> is using movie night to bring students together and highlight some of the fields they are studying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The club recently screened &#8216;The Silence Of The Lambs&#8221; after a vote by forensic majors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;We have had an influx of criminology students and forensic students.&#8221; said Marlee Brand, President of Anthropology Club. &#8220;We wanted everyone to feel included. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;With that Influx, we decided to open up the vote with anthropology, archaeology, and forensic movies.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/2026\/09\/08\/alabama-black-bear-sightings-increase-as-populations-grow\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>LOCAL NEWS: Alabama black bear sightings increase as populations grow<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although the film depicts a forensic investigation, members recognize Hollywood&#8217;s tendency to glamorize the field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;We always try to watch movies that are kind of versed in the fields that we are going into, these romanticized idolized views.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The growing interest in these fields may be connected to the growth of the programs themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Brand, Troy&#8217;s forensic anthropology faulty also has been expanding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Our criminology and specifically our forensic anthropology teachers, staff, and educators are amazing,&#8221; Brand said. &#8220;When I got here, we first got Dr. Wiedenmeyer, who is wonderful. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;This year, we&#8217;ve added another forensic professor. We are just growing and growing, and as the staff, amazing teachers and faculty grow exponentially, so do the students.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As the program continues to grow, so does student interest, giving them more opportunities to explore what happens behind the cases they see on screen.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TROY.
