(<a href=\"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 Troy City Mayor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.troyal.gov\/content\/6203\/6231\/6414\/default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Jason Reeves<\/a> has been chosen as one of Troy University&#8217;s Alumni of the Year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Reeves attended Troy in the 1990s and graduated in 2001.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;A lot of what I do, I learned for the first time at the university and being involved on campus, &#8221; said Jason Reeves, Troy City Mayor. \u201cThere were tons of things that I learned that led to my election to the city council that next year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt&#8217;s really exciting for me to be able to celebrate this and all of the things that have helped me.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While on campus, Reeves served as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.troy.edu\/student-life-resources\/groups-organizations\/student-government-association\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Student Government Association<\/a> president. He credits most of his career to lessons he learned while holding office on campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Obviously, being involved as SGA president got me thinking about public service,&#8221; Reeves said. &#8220;Being able to go from SGA president in 1994 to 1995 to being elected to the city council in 1996 was a key part of my leap into public service.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/alumni\/troy-announces-2026-alumni-of-the-year-recipients\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">MORE: Meet this year&#8217;s Alumni of the Year award winners<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Reeves has been a resident of Troy his whole life. He expressed how grateful he is for the city and the university&#8217;s support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt makes me feel really proud. It&#8217;s a very humbling experience. I grew up in Troy, went to Troy University, was SGA president, and was very involved. This is such an honor for me and my family. I&#8217;m very grateful.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Alumni of the Year awards will be given during the halftime show during homecoming week.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TROY, Ala.
