{"id":1314,"date":"2021-06-25T15:46:45","date_gmt":"2021-06-25T15:46:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/?p=1314"},"modified":"2021-10-26T16:42:33","modified_gmt":"2021-10-26T16:42:33","slug":"troy-university-math-camp-uses-a-variety-of-techniques-to-try-and-make-math-more-accessible","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/archive\/news\/troy-university-math-camp-uses-a-variety-of-techniques-to-try-and-make-math-more-accessible\/","title":{"rendered":"Troy University Math Camp uses a variety of techniques to try and make math more accessible."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All this week <a href=\"http:\/\/troy.edu\">Troy University<\/a>&#8216;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.troy.edu\/academics\/colleges-schools\/college-arts-sciences\/departments\/school-science-technology\/mathematics-department\/\">Department of Mathematics<\/a> has held a camp designed to get girls more interested in math and math-related career fields the camp is using a variety of different activities to show how math applies in the real world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;I think that what&#8217;s really good about the camp is that they&#8217;re able to see real world applications of math and see  unexpected places where it just pops up in everyday life that they may not have ever thought of before,&#8221; says Chair of the Troy University Math Department Dr. Ken Roblee. &#8220;Hopefully that&#8217;ll get the their minds thinking okay well where where else can it be applied or maybe I can study this math more.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Applying math in real world situations is something that is emphasized at the camp.
