{"id":1374,"date":"2021-07-09T15:24:56","date_gmt":"2021-07-09T15:24:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/?p=1374"},"modified":"2021-07-09T19:27:39","modified_gmt":"2021-07-09T19:27:39","slug":"troy-universitys-department-of-theatre-and-dance-provides-creative-outlet-for-budding-comic-book-creators","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/2021\/07\/09\/troy-universitys-department-of-theatre-and-dance-provides-creative-outlet-for-budding-comic-book-creators\/","title":{"rendered":"Troy University&#8217;s Department of Theatre and Dance provides creative outlet for budding comic book creators."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Children are getting to unleash their inner Stan Lee this week at <a href=\"http:\/\/troy.edu\">Troy University<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.troy.edu\/academics\/colleges-schools\/college-communication-fine-arts\/departments\/theatre-dance\/index.html\">Department of Theatre and Dance&#8217;s<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.troy.edu\/academics\/colleges-schools\/college-communication-fine-arts\/departments\/theatre-dance\/summer-spotlight.html\">Comicamp<\/a> is allowing children aged 10 to12 to spend a week developing and producing their own comic book.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s built around the idea that these are very creative kids and they need an outlet to express that creativity,&#8221; says Comicamp Coordinator <a href=\"https:\/\/www.troy.edu\/academics\/colleges-schools\/college-communication-fine-arts\/departments\/art-design\/faculty-staff.html\">Greg Skaggs<\/a>.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The campers work directly with TROY&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.troy.edu\/academics\/colleges-schools\/college-communication-fine-arts\/departments\/art-design\/\">Graphic Design<\/a> students and faculty to make their comic dreams a reality. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We help the kids make their own comic,&#8221; says Comicamp Instructor Dior Brown. &#8220;We help them teach them basics of drawing.
