With a new coach, a new field and a new year, new seems to be the theme for this year’s trojan soccer squad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Headed into the season after the delays and cancellations last year due to COVID the team is anxious to get back out onto the field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“I know it’s really exciting,” says Head Coach Nicole Waters. “As many people know last year was a COVID year so it wasn’t a real season, so these girls are definitely ready to come into this fall and have a real actual season where we’re playing almost 20 games and hoping to have a successful conference tournament this year.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Waters takes over the reigns this year as interim head coach after serving as an assistant for two years. She was named to the position less than a month ago on July 26th but she thinks the team has done a good job of adjusting in such a short time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“I’ve been very fortunate that they’ve adapted very well to me becoming the new head coach,” says Waters. “I was lucky that I already knew all of the girls on the team and even the incoming players I was familiar with all of them before they got here. So, it made the transition for me from assistant to head coach pretty easy and smooth.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
