The Trojan Football team dropped its second game of the season to Liberty Flames 21-13 Saturday night in Veterans Memorial Stadium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At quarterback the Flames had a familiar face to head coach Chip Lindsey in Malik Willis who Lindsey coached at Auburn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Heading into Saturday’s game the defense’s goal was to contain Willis as best as they could,” says Lindsey. “I thought we did a decent job containing him most of the time. We did let him on the edge a couple of times when they overloaded us and ran some quarterback runt that way. He’s a hard guy to defend. I mean he’s going to make his share of plays. He’s done that over and over and over but I thought overall we executed the plan really well and you hold him to 21 points and that’s pretty good.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On offense the Trojans got off to a good start scoring on the first drive of the game but became stagnant through the rest of the first half.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The running game was limited as TROY only had a total of 21 rushing yards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The defense kept the Trojans in the game sacking Willis five times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Eventually the Flames wore down on the Trojan defense scoring with 12 minutes left in the fourth quarter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Trojans were given a spark on special teams with a blocked 32-yard field goal by Dell Pettus and recovered by the Trojans who were able to put together a scoring drive with time winding down on the clock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Trojans were unable to put out the Flames with a failed on-side kick attempt to end the game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
