{"id":1979,"date":"2021-10-22T21:59:07","date_gmt":"2021-10-22T21:59:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/?p=1979"},"modified":"2021-10-22T21:59:09","modified_gmt":"2021-10-22T21:59:09","slug":"troy-theatre-and-dance-presents-greek-tragedy-medea","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/2021\/10\/22\/troy-theatre-and-dance-presents-greek-tragedy-medea\/","title":{"rendered":"TROY Theatre and Dance presents Greek tragedy &#8220;Medea.&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An ancient Greek tragedy is getting a modern makeover thanks to <a href=\"http:\/\/troy.edu\">Troy University<\/a>&#8216;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.troy.edu\/academics\/colleges-schools\/college-communication-fine-arts\/departments\/theatre-dance\/index.html\">Department of Theatre and Dance<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The department&#8217;s first play of the school year will run from Thursday, October 21st to Wednesday, October 27th in the Trojan Center Theater. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;It&#8217;s been a very exciting experience because we&#8217;re using originally composed music, newly choreographed dance and these ancient words to tell this story that is over 2400 years old,&#8221; says Director Quinton Cockrell. &#8220;So it&#8217;s been very exciting. I think the audience is going to see something that they&#8217;ve never seen before.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cockrell adapted this Greek tragedy for a modern audience including a more modern adaptation and contemporary dancing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;I was thinking about &#8220;Medea&#8221; because I wanted to direct it for a long time and I thought &#8216;Oh my gosh!
