{"id":2218,"date":"2021-11-23T15:54:56","date_gmt":"2021-11-23T15:54:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/?p=2218"},"modified":"2021-11-23T15:54:57","modified_gmt":"2021-11-23T15:54:57","slug":"new-york-photographer-inspires-troy-university-students-to-create-their-own-photographic-art","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/2021\/11\/23\/new-york-photographer-inspires-troy-university-students-to-create-their-own-photographic-art\/","title":{"rendered":"New York photographer inspires Troy University students to create their own photographic art."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>An exhibit in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.troy.edu\/student-life-resources\/arts-culture\/international-arts-center\/\">International Arts Center<\/a> featured the work of a New York-based photographer but it also featured work from <a href=\"http:\/\/troy.edu\">TROY<\/a> students inspired by the photographer&#8217;s pictures. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The exhibit &#8220;From 231 to Yangtze&#8221; was a display of photos from Hai Zhang as well as image captured by Troy University students based on Zheng&#8217;s imagery. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Zhang had been working remotely with TROY students throughout the semester to bring together the exhibit in the IAC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Frankly I am very, very honored working with the students it is part of a process,&#8221; says Zhang. &#8220;They force you to retrospect your own artwork.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Zheng worked alongside Will Jacks, a Troy University art professor, to co-teach a photography class. He taught the class virtually where students focused on his portfolio which features pictures of rural China to see the different ways they could improve their work. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;My main takeaway from this is actually learning how to capture frames,&#8221; say Student Photographer Brandon Claiborne. &#8220;Basically don&#8217;t try to force an image.
