Long through a musical performance"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>This week <a href=\"http:\/\/troy.edu\">Troy University<\/a>&#8216;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.troy.edu\/academics\/colleges-schools\/college-communication-fine-arts\/departments\/john-m-long-school-music\/\">John M. Long School of Music<\/a> took time to honor the memory of its namesake in probably the most appropriate way possible through music. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Troy University Symphonic Band performed a concert Tuesday night that featured a performance dedicated to the memory of Dr. Long entitled &#8220;Never Forget.&#8221; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s about just those people who make an important difference in your life and that you will never forget,&#8221; says Conductor of the Symphonic Band and Director of the School of Music Dr. Larry Blocker. &#8220;The title itself is reflective of that.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Much of the success of the School of Music is credited to its namesake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Blocker, Long brought a lot of outside culture to Troy University due to his expertise and influence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;So what he brought to me was not only friendship but also skills and politics and those kind of things and approaches that have been applicable throughout my time here,&#8221; says Blocker. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the full story watch Cailey&#8217;s report. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This week Troy University&#8216;s John M.
