{"id":2616,"date":"2022-03-10T16:46:45","date_gmt":"2022-03-10T16:46:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/?p=2616"},"modified":"2022-03-10T16:46:48","modified_gmt":"2022-03-10T16:46:48","slug":"troy-university-plays-host-to-southeast-alabama-model-united-nations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/2022\/03\/10\/troy-university-plays-host-to-southeast-alabama-model-united-nations\/","title":{"rendered":"Troy University plays host to Southeast Alabama Model United Nations."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Middle schoolers from all over the southeast were on <a href=\"http:\/\/troy.edu\">Troy University<\/a>&#8216;s campus not to represent their school but to represent other nations through Model U.N. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;This is the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.troy.edu\/academics\/colleges-schools\/education\/southeast-alabama-regional-inservice-center\/southeast-alabama-model-united-nations.html#:~:text=The%20Wiregrass%20Writing%20Project%20and,the%20United%20Nations%20first%2Dhand.\">Southeast Alabama Model United Nations <\/a>assembly and it is actually a writing competition for students,&#8221; says Executive Director of Education Outreach <a href=\"https:\/\/www.troy.edu\/academics\/colleges-schools\/education\/southeast-alabama-regional-inservice-center\/personnel.html\">Dr. Robin Bynum<\/a>. &#8220;They have to demonstrate their speaking ability, their writing ability and their leadership ability in this mock session of the United Nations.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Southeast Alabama Model United Nations assembly is a two-day process here on campus. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students from each school participating are expected to pick a country, identify issues within the nation and write a resolution to present to other countries in attendance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;They had to research the country first of all,&#8221; says Bynum. &#8220;Identify a need of that country. Identify resources of those countries and write a resolution. But, that resolution has to be something that could actually go before the United Nations assembly.
