The Troy University Police<\/a> department is giving TROY<\/a> students who received a parking ticket this semester a break by forgiving some types of parking violations with their first ever ticket amnesty day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They will be exchanging parking fines for donations to the campus food pantry Thursday, April 28th between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We’re going to be over at the Trojan Center taking donations for our student food pantry,” says University Police Chief George Beaudry. “Now fortunately the food pantry is stocked pretty well with food right now so they’ve given us a list of items in lieu of food, hygiene items, personal care products, things of that nature.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the items they are looking for are shampoo, conditioner, soap, feminine products, deodorant, toothbrushes and toothpaste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also school supplies such as paper, folders, notebooks, binders, pens and pencils will be accepted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Now when students bring that over and donate to us, what we’re going to do from the police department side is we’re going to look at those tickets that you’ve got this semester even if you’ve already paid those fines we’re going to be able to credit some of those tickets back,” says Beaudry. “So basically we’re willing to give you up to fifty dollars of citations taken care of for most offenses. Of course any handicap violations we’re not going to allow those to be voided but any of your regular $10 citations we’re going to go ahead and take up the five of those off as long as you bring products that value half that amount.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
