One guest speaker did just that and made it all the way to the top of the Alabama government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Governor Kay Ivey made a visit to <a href=\"http:\/\/troy.edu\">TROY<\/a> to speak to the Alabama Girls&#8217; State attendees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Governor Ivey attended the program in 1962 as a rising high school senior and was elected to serve as the Girls&#8217; State Lieutenant Governor but she says that even if the girls don&#8217;t pursue a career in politics the week will prepare them for their future careers and teach them the main values of Girls&#8217; State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;No matter the direction that you want to take in life this week at girl state is already preparing you to get there,&#8221; says Ivey. &#8220;At Girls&#8217; State our focus is on legacy of leadership, a heritage to honor, a future to form.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the full story watch Claudia&#8217;s report. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Some Alabama Girls&#8217; State attendees leave knowing they want to pursue a career in politics and go on working for the state.
