{"id":3122,"date":"2022-07-08T20:18:18","date_gmt":"2022-07-08T20:18:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/?p=3122"},"modified":"2022-07-08T20:25:15","modified_gmt":"2022-07-08T20:25:15","slug":"troy-university-enters-partnership-with-american-village-to-bolster-u-s-history-and-civics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/2022\/07\/08\/troy-university-enters-partnership-with-american-village-to-bolster-u-s-history-and-civics\/","title":{"rendered":"Troy University enters partnership with  American Village to bolster U.S. history and civics lessons in Alabama classrooms"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A <a href=\"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/news\/troy-american-village-agreement-seeks-to-bolster-knowledge-of-u-s-history-government\/\">memorandum of understanding<\/a> was signed between <a href=\"http:\/\/troy.edu\">Troy University<\/a> and the American Village Citizenship Trust to create a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.troy.edu\/academics\/colleges-schools\/education\/departments\/institute-leadership\/\">Young Leaders Program<\/a> designated to educate students on the founding and the history of the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;We can&#8217;t take anything for granted,&#8221; says TROY Chancellor Dr. Jack Hawkins, Jr. &#8220;We are very proud at Troy University to link with and partner with the American Village to help Alabamians understand truly in a much deeper way their responsibilities  in civics and in the knowledge of history and understanding what we have to do in order to move forward.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">President Emeritus of the American Village Tom Walker says that the partnership will give the American Village access to resources through TROY that will help spread a supplemental U.S. history curriculum to schools throughout the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;What it does is augment the ability of the Village in ways to expand further into serving teachers and those who are in the classrooms throughout our state,&#8221;
