TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 Tuesday night, Frequency held its annual Valentine’s Day Concert at The Studio in downtown Troy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The concert was sponsored by the Johnson Center for the Arts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Frequency has existed since 2009, but about six or seven years ago, they started a Valentine’s Day tradition where they had a concert at Valentine’s Day,” said Director of Frequency Dr. Scott Sexton. “This is our second year doing it downtown at The Studio as part of the Johnson Center for the Arts and we’re so delighted that they’re able to host us.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each song was performed in groups duets and even a few solos. One solo was performed by the only freshman in Frequency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I don’t get chills often, but I got chills all the way up my arm. I’m one proud director.<\/p>Director of Frequency Dr. Scott Sexton<\/cite><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The group sang many popular love songs in honor of Valentine’s Day. Some of the soloists dedicated their performance to a loved one in their life. Songs came from many different genres from pop, Motown and even some show tunes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We spanned a wide rep of songs,” said Sexton. “Everything from Broadway to standard jazz, love songs to standard pop love songs, we even had a little Motown in there. We did an arrangement of “I’ll Be There” by Jackson, which was a favorite of everyone.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another piece included in the concert was the song titled “Disney Love Medley,” a song Sexton said presented a challenge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Disney Love Medley is pretty hard,” Sexton told TrojanVision. “There’s lots of parts to it. There’s lots of few changes and tonight they just simply knocked it out of the park.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The group has been preparing for this concert since the beginning of the semester.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We had a very short time to prepare this concert, but they really rose to the occasion and did awesome in every single song. I’m very proud.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
