(<a href=\"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 The familiar sound of classical guitar was heard on campus during the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/troyguitarfest\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2023 Troy University Guitar Festival<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Friday, Feb. 17, young musicians came to campus to compete and listen to music from experienced guitar players. Though competing and listening to toe-tapping music was a major part of the festival, organizers said education was the main objective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We have a a large education component to this festival,&#8221; said Guitar Instructor Robert Gibson. &#8220;We bring in students from middle school age through high school and college, participating in master classes and in concerts.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Guitar Festival is not only a learning experience for students of all ages, but is also a time for musicians to connect and talk about what they love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I love sharing music,&#8221; Gibson said. &#8220;I think that&#8217;s the most important thing. Whether that&#8217;s just sharing music with myself or with other people in an intimate setting or in a larger concert venue. It&#8217;s good to hear people from all all variety of places playing a variety of repertoire and sharing in those experiences.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since its first festival in 2012, TROY&#8217;s Guitar Festival has brought musicians from across the nation together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p>&#8220;That&#8217;s what it&#8217;s all about,&#8221; Gibson explained. Bring people from all over. We have visitors from Oklahoma and from Texas and from Mississippi and Georgia and Florida and just all over.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Gibson hopes students were able to take home a fun experience and new techniques to work on. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.troy.edu\/academics\/colleges-schools\/college-communication-fine-arts\/departments\/john-m-long-school-music\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">John M Long School of Music<\/a> hosts events throughout the semester.
