(<a href=\"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 The inaugural Jerry Johnson Symposium took students on a journey through the world of graphic design and how the industry works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The event consisted of three guest speakers including Travis Carlson, a motion graphic designer for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brainsonfire.com\/?fbclid=IwAR3EYBWoUGuxYFlB520SH5zzvfx2NqK6s6DcdbpWk5k75k9sD9hf_Bq_Xwg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Brains on Fire<\/a> and a TROY alumnus. The second speaker was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.blockdissolve.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Nikhil Ghodke<\/a>, a design professor from Auburn University in Montgomery. During his lecture, Ghodke stressed the importance of accepting, and utilizing, artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Don&#8217;t fight it,&#8221; Ghodke said. &#8220;The best thing you can do is embrace it, understand what it does learn, about it and try to adapt.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The last speaker at the symposium was <a href=\"http:\/\/atruecreation.com\/TommieLee.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Tommie Lee Washington III<\/a>. He is the current senior animator for the ESPN Sports Network. He is also responsible for many recognizable graphics. Despite reaching what some would consider the pinnacle of a career, Washington says it is important to embrace continual learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Don&#8217;t stop learning,&#8221; Washington said. &#8220;Don&#8217;t stop because everything keeps changing. Software keeps changing, the way people do things keeps changing.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The symposium concluded with a panel of judges looking at pieces of graphic design work and films that students have produced.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TROY, Ala.
