TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 April 24-28th marked Greek Week for Troy University’s Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you saw saw several grown men seesawing on the Quad, you might be happy to know that it was for a good cause.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I think that’s something great about TROY’s campus is that every fraternity has a unique way of raising money,” said TKE House Manager Tyler Steele. “Ours happens to just be a seesaw so one of the things that children tend to like to do is seesaw on a playground.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unfortunately there are some children who can’t enjoy the simple pleasures of childhood like seesawing because they are ill. That is why TKE members were working to raise money.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It’s something that maybe some of those children can’t do so we take that on and we say we’ll do it for 48 hours,” Steele explained. “We’ll raise money for you guys and get things going.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Steele, the money members raise goes directly to St. Jude for research. St. Jude’s Children’s and Research Hospital is a pediatric treatment and research facility located in Memphis, Tennessee. It is a non-profit medical corporation that focuses on children’s catastrophic diseases, particular early leukemia and other cancers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“St. Jude just has a special place in my heart because children are the future and I think we should be giving them as many opportunities as we can,” Steele told TrojanVision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
