(<a href=\"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 The transition from high school to college can be hard for incoming students. That&#8217;s when Troy University&#8217;s Welcome Week committee steps in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After a fun and hot summer, students begin to ease into their college routine. To help with that process, the Student Government Association (SGA) has created an event called Welcome Week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Welcome Week is the first two weeks of school,&#8221; said Welcome Week Advisor Sadaris Williams. &#8220;It&#8217;s a chance for us to welcome our students back, to host event host different type of events, to show students what we have to offer here at TROY.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A variety of events will take place around campus during Welcome Week to give students a chance to see what Troy University is all about.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;We&#8217;ll have a silent disco, escape night, a late night glow-in-the-dark yoga,&#8221; Williams explained. &#8220;Our religious organizations also host a number of different events, too, during Welcome Week.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This year&#8217;s theme is TROY 101, which is a spin-off of the Nickelodeon sitcom Zoey 101.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;They wanted people to come back and learn about the fundamentals of TROY and just be ready for their new reality of being here at Troy University,&#8221; Williams told TrojanVision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Vice President of Campus Affairs Betsy Bennett wants students to attend Welcome Week events to gain a sense of having a home away from home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Going to these events definitely can get you more comfortable to the campus,&#8221; Bennett said. &#8220;Getting to meet new students that are in the same position as you really helps make the Troy Campus feel a lot more like a family environment.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you would like to share an idea or suggestion for next year&#8217;s Welcome Week email the SGA at sgatroy.edu. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.troy.edu\/student-life-resources\/groups-organizations\/student-government-association\/troy-sga\/welcome-week\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Click here<\/a> for a full list of Welcome Week activities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TROY, Ala.
