(<a href=\"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 International Day of Peace celebrates peace across nations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Peace means many different things to different people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThere\u2019s so much that divides us, maybe physical boundaries, oceans, religion, different points of view, different lifestyles and cultures,\u201d said Carrie Jaxon, Director of the International Arts Center. \u201cInternational peace is where we can find common ground and where we can see what we want for the future. Peace is that comfort spot where we can all find a connection.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For some, it means togetherness among people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p>2023 Theme<\/p><p>Actions for peace: Our ambition for the #GlobalGoals<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cInternational peace to me is just peace amongst everyone together,\u201d said student Matthew Dennis. \u201cTroy University has done a great job at that. They did a great job of bringing together people of international communities. Doesn\u2019t get much more international than Troy, especially in this little town of Alabama.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Isabella Chircop, another student, said, \u201cTo me, it means equality throughout the globe and coming together to solve international issues instead of blaming it on each other. To just form some kind of bond to conquer it all.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cInternational peace is where everyone from different backgrounds can live in the world together with no judgment,\u201d said student Riley Green.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For others, peace means overcoming differences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Student Jewel Hill said, \u201cInternational peace, to me, means a state of mind of calmness without all the arguments and all of that that\u2019s going on in our country today and all around the world with all the differences. It\u2019s just people getting along.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cCountries working together towards a common goal without fighting about random stuff,\u201d said student Chris Ball. Peace is \u201cthe members of a nation not showing prejudice against one another just from being in another country.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The International Day of Peace was created in 1981 by the United Nations General Assembly. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/en\/observances\/international-day-peace\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Click here<\/a> to learn more.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TROY, Ala.
