(<a href=\"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 College students have a lot of stress in their lives due to everything from exams and papers to paying bills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That&#8217;s why the Psychology Club says it&#8217;s good for students to take a step back and take a break. That is also why the Troy Art Club partnered with the Psychology Club to hold Watercolor Night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event allowed students to show their creative side even if they have no artistic experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s a very loosely-structured, relaxed club that people didn&#8217;t feel pressured to come in,&#8221; said Art Club President Icie Williams. &#8220;It was open for people to be able to make art, even if they had never done it before.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Art is a way to relax and forget about problems while making something beautiful in the process. In fact, art is so soothing that it is a popular form of therapy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We wanted something a little more specific this time,&#8221; Williams explained. &#8220;Specifically on the meditative qualities of art, especially watercolor it&#8217;s very peaceful to use art in and of itself is considered very calming this is why art therapy is a really common thing.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Troy Psychology Club, along with discussing psychology, shows opportunities in the profession and collaborates with other clubs on campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We have career and research opportunities,&#8221; said Psychology Club President Meagan Chaudron. &#8220;We have different professors come in to talk. We do different psychology-related activities such as mindful art with the Art Club.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Troy Art and Design club meets every Monday from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in Malone 118.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TROY, Ala.
