(<a href=\"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 The Trojan Center (TC) is usually where students come to eat, relax, and study between classes, but one organization chose to use the space to raise awareness about a serious topic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Today we&#8217;re hosting the Redz Go Pink for breast cancer awareness,&#8221; said Delta Sigma Theta Community Service Cahir Aliyah Johnson. &#8220;We have a table set up in TC from 11 to 2 and we&#8217;ll be giving out candy bags and breast cancer pins. Just raising awareness for breast cancer month.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When asked why the organization was placed in the Trojan Center, Johnson said it was to reach as many people as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Just find out more information on signs and symptoms of breast cancer. Being a black woman, knowing that the effect that it has on black women around the country, is just better for us to raise awareness and to bring a stop to this cancer.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF), &#8220;Black women are disproportionately affected by more aggressive subtypes, such as triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) and inflammatory breast cancer, and they are more likely to be diagnosed at younger ages and at more advanced stages of the disease.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For more information about breast cancer research, signs, and detection, visit the BCRF&#8217;s website.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TROY, Ala.
