TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 Malone Hall is one of the oldest buildings on campus, but is home to some of TROY’s busiest students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Junior theater major Kate Simechak believes the Troy Theatre Department has given her opportunities she wouldn’t have been able to get anywhere else.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I’ve had a great opportunity to learn how to express myself artistically,” Simechak said. “As a person it has developed my confidence as a performer and as a person.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Malone Hall is where Troy’s Theatre majors go to classes, rehearse and even perform some of their shows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From the moment you step foot into the Malone courtyard, the influence of the arts is evident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“They started helping me develop skills right away,” Simechak said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Simechak was recently cast as Veronica in the theatre department’s production of the musical “Heathers.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I think that it’s a great opportunity to allow my personality shine through a character and help tell a story of somebody who is very similar to me in a lot of ways,” Simechak explained. “I would hope in a way that’s authentic and in a way that people can relate to.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
