TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 A faculty member at Troy University has partnered with a well-known musician to make music that people will love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brenda Jean Hamilton<\/a> is a lecturer of music at Troy University. She is also a musician. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hamilton has released a few songs, but not without the help of her co-writer, Brandon Barnes, a Grammy-nominated musician. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hamilton and Barnes\u2019 partnership began in Hamilton\u2019s office located in the John M. Long School of Music on Troy\u2019s campus. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe first song that was written was in this room, I was sitting at the piano,” Barnes said. “I think she was auditioning \u2018Wind\u2019 for me. It was from movie \u2018Men of Honor’ that me and Brian McKnight wrote. She asked me to come by her office and sing it for me and when she got through singing it, I was like that\u2019s gonna work, that\u2019s great, we gotta work together.”<\/p>\n\n\n

Barnes says Hamilton\u2019s work ethic is something most people don\u2019t have. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNobody I\u2019ve really worked with, except for Brian McKnight, had this work ethic where she\u2019s just right on it all the time,” Barnes told TrojanVision. “She\u2019s like step ahead of me doing things and when she says she\u2019s gonna do something, she does it.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hamilton and Barnes say their rapport and friendship is what makes working together professional and easy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe clearly have a great rapport together and you\u2019re spending so much time in the studio with each other that you have to be able to work with one another without getting mad,\u201d Hamilton said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEgos not allowed in the room and in the studio. You gotta leave that out,\u201d Barnes added. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hamilton and Barnes\u2019 next song is called “You.” It’s about being grateful for the people in your life that love you. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
