(<a href=\"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 TROY students experienced international culture at the International Student Services\u2019 Taste of the World.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The event was part of TROY&#8217;s week-long International Education Week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe just want to make sure that students have the opportunity to learn about different cultures and get exposed to as many different countries and languages as possible,\u201d said Maria Frigge, Dean of International Student Services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Students ate international foods during the Great International Bake-off, wore traditional clothing, and enjoyed photos from around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe always have a photo contest,\u201d Frigge explained. \u201cStudents, faculty, and staff will submit pictures and then we have people vote on it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The event also included a henna table and a study abroad table for those interested in international travel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI love tasting desserts from different parts of the world, so that is always my favorite,&#8221; Frigge told TrojanVision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jessica Roberts, a student who attended the event, said she \u201creally liked that everyone got to get together and learn a little bit more about international culture. I enjoyed the food! It was really fun getting to socialize and meet some new people.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because Troy University is known as Alabama\u2019s international university, it is important for students to be aware of international culture and tradition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cYou are going to meet people from different cultures and it is very important to be culturally sensitive. Learning while you\u2019re in college and having that opportunity to work with different students from different cultures is something you\u2019re not going to get anywhere else,\u201d Frigge said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TROY, Ala.
