(<a href=\"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 A community-wide fundraiser goal meant to help a local reporter battling cancer has been met.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Josh Boutwell, the sports editor at the Troy Messenger, has been fighting stage three colon cancer. The <a href=\"https:\/\/champsraise.com\/athletes\/dell-pettus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Trojans Together NIL Collective<\/a>, which features Trojan Football safety Dell Pettus, put together a fundraiser to help him cover medical costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The goal was to raise $10,000. Not only did the community meet that goal, it exceeded it with a grand total over $11,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I was shocked coach. Coach Jon Sumrall mentioned it on his press conference. The very next day is when they really started pushing and then, just kind of all of a sudden, started just going crazy. I didn&#8217;t expect it. The biggest thing is just thank you so much. I can&#8217;t thank people enough. It means the world to us and there&#8217;s no way I could thank people enough for this although.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although Boutwell is covered financially, his battle is not over. He is in his second round of chemotherapy, which is expected to last until the end of February 2024.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TROY, Ala.
