TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 The second-largest crowd in Trojan Arena was present as the TROY’s Men Basketball<\/a> team conquered South Alabama 83-79.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Jaguars did claim the upper hand at the beginning of the matchup with a 14 to 9 lead in the middle of the first half. The Trojans did come back, however, with a 23 to 17 lead shortly after.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s always sweet revenge when you get to play South,” said guard Aamer Muhammad<\/a>. “We let one slip when we went down there. So, coming in at home, it was a great environment. It\u2019s one of the largest crowds we\u2019ve had. We didn\u2019t want to disappoint and revenge is so sweet.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It seemed the two teams could not help but to trade buckets back to back once the second half started. South Alabama\u2019s shooting was 43.5 percent from the field, while Troy was 45.3 percent. The Trojans out rebounded South Alabama and shot 70.8 percent from the free-throw line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cJust thankful to the good Lord for this victory,” said Head Coach Scott Cross<\/a>. “A game like this is always going to come down to the wire. Your home court and your fans, they definitely make a difference for us.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TROY has now moved to 12 and 1 at home this season, making this the most wins in Trojan Arena in a single season. The team also sits second place in the Sun Belt standings. As the team looks ahead for its next games on the road, the Trojans intend to overcome their not-so-popular away game record.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cUs getting up at six a.m., lifting and practicing for three to four hours consistently every day is building us to be a better player and better men,\u201d said forward Myles Rigsby. \u201cUs doing that everyday is going to help us win.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Trojans will take on Georgia Southern Thursday at 6 p.m. in Statesboro, Georgia. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
