(<a href=\"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 Black History Month is an important celebration of African American culture and helps us remember important Black leaders. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The month-long celebration grants students time to reflect on their black history leaders&#8217; histories. TrojanVision talked to students to learn who their favorite Black leaders are. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;I would say Dr. Marther King Jr,&#8221; said senior Qwien Mason.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Junior Charmaine Smith, another student said, &#8220;I feel like Germaine Cole, the rapper J Cole, is a leader.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;I would say Jackie Robinson,&#8221; said junior Tralyn Ball. &#8220;What he did was give me the courage to step out and do things that I normally wouldn&#8217;t want to do.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;You have to stand out from the crowd and just put your foot forward and do something different than what other people are doing,&#8221; Smith told TrojanVision.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;You also have to be adaptive because there&#8217;s some environments that you have to step out of your comfort zone,&#8221; said Mason.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To learn more about Black History Month, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.blackhistorymonth.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">click here<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TROY, Ala.
