(<a href=\"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 The Miss Troy University crown has passed to a new queen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thursday night, seven contestants competed for the title of Miss Troy University. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.troy.edu\/community-outreach\/miss-troy\/contestants.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">This year&#8217;s contestants<\/a> were Grace Shellhouse, Ashlyn Simpson, Reanna Thompson, Gracie Beth Scrushy, Taylor Jones, Sarah Jane Houston and Laney Kelley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the competition, contestants answered on-stage questions, featured their various talents, and demonstrated their pageant walks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s really exciting,&#8221; said Assistant Director of Miss Troy University, KeLeigh Pritchett. &#8220;We do put a lot of sweat, equity and hard work into this pageant. We want it to be successful. We want the contestants to feel comfortable. We want to represent TROY well and I feel that that happened. So, it&#8217;s a relief to have it over, just to know that it went well but we had a really good time.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/2024\/02\/07\/troy-university-celebrated-john-robert-lewis-leadership-conference\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">READ MORE: Troy University holds annual John Robert Lewis Leadership Conference<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the end, sophomore Psychology major Sarah Jane Houston was crowned Miss Troy University by Chancellor Dr. Jack Hawkins, Jr. and Miss Troy University 2023 Abigail Grantham. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Houston is from Albany, Georgia. Her social impact platform is \u201cSee It. Be It.\u201d She performed \u201cDefying Gravity\u201d from \u201cWicked.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-style-default\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"719\" height=\"902\" src=\"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/02\/Houston.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5378\" style=\"width:281px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/02\/Houston.png 719w, https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/02\/Houston-239x300.png 239w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 719px) 100vw, 719px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Miss Troy University 2024 Sarah Jane Houston<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Today was actually such an incredible day,&#8221; Houston said. &#8220;Up into the competition, I&#8217;ve been so nervous but today I prayed for peace. I asked for God to guide every step I take and make sure that every word that comes out of my mouth has a purpose. I&#8217;m so excited that those prayers were answered and I&#8217;m lucky enough to be standing here as Miss Troy University.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I definitely know how Sarah Jane feels right now. She is feeling all of the excitement,&#8221; said Miss Troy University 2023 Abigail Grantham. &#8220;She&#8217;s about to go to Miss Alabama and represent Troy University for a year. That&#8217;s the best feeling ever. So, good luck to Sarah Jane and Miss Alabama. I love her, and I&#8217;ve known her for a few years now, and I&#8217;m so proud of her.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I feel wonderful about all of the contestants and the program itself,&#8221; said Troy University Chancellor Dr. Jack Hawkins, Jr. &#8220;I greatly appreciate those who worked so hard to put it on, the judges and Mrs. Gina Harper, the field representative for Miss Alabama. I think that the young lady that won is just beautiful and talented, but all of them were.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sarah Jane Houston will now begin preparations for Miss Alabama.
