TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 After taking a hard loss that caused the team to go down to second place in the Sun Belt Conference standings, TROY’s Men Basketball came back on Saturday with a Mad Dawg mentality that resulted in the Trojans defeating ULM 85 to 57. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This win caused the team to finish its 2023-2024 season with 15 and 2 home records. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere was definitely emphasis going into this game. We were just going to have that dog mentality and we proved it tonight,\u201d said guard Aamer Muhammad. \u201cCoach was saying how we got to have another 59-56 game. So it is in us and we went out there to prove it.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe were more aggressive, talked more and communicated better and everything was just better on defense,\u201d said guard Christyon Eugene. \u201cOur defense turned into our offense, so that\u2019s why we did good tonight.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The game started out pretty intensely at a fast pace when the Trojans placed an 11-2 lead in just three minutes of the game. The Warhawks outrebounded the Trojans 45 to 35, but this did not compare to TROY outsourcing ULM in points off turnovers and its percentage shots from the field. All in all, eleven Trojans were successful in adding points to the scoreboard by the end of the night. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFrom start to finish, this was one of our better all-around games, especially on the defensive side,\u201d said head coach Scott Cross. \u201cI think our only area where we didn\u2019t play our best is rebounds defensively. We gave up too many offensive rebounds, but to hold in the 30% and only give up two three-pointers, our guys were really locked in defensively.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While this was the last home game of the season, it was also the last home game for two of the players. Christyon Eugene and Aamer Muhammad were honored before the match started for Senior Night. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both players had a strong ending for their last game at Trojan Arena. Eugene finished with a game high of 21 points on a 7-11 shooting and Muhammad tied with a team-high plus minus of 23 with Jackson Fields. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFor your senior game, you never forget, so you want that game to be a win,\u201d said Cross. \u201cThis was a good game that I think everybody can feel great about and they can enjoy this for a day and a half. Then we got to get back to work on Monday and get some payback.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although saying goodbye is bittersweet, the team still has four games left before saying hello to the SunBelt Conference Championship. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Trojans’ next matchup will be on Thursday night when they take on Arkansas State again, but this time on their court. Tipoff is at 8 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
