(<a href=\"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 TROY students looking to attend graduate school gathered more information during a recent meeting by TROY&#8217;s Psychology Club.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Members of the club welcomed guest speaker Associate Dean of the College of Education Frank Hammonds who explained what students can expect during a graduate school experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt really depends on a person\u2019s career goals, but a lot of people have academic interests or are pursuing careers where attending graduate school would be really beneficial to them,\u201d Hammonds said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hammonds talked about the application process, how students should go about choosing a program, and what to expect when they get there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/TUPD adds radio transmitters to University\u2019s towers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">MORE: TUPD adds radio transmitters to University\u2019s towers<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;A lot of our students do go on to graduate programs, so I\u2019m just trying to help them get prepared,&#8221; Hammonds told TrojanVision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although there are many benefits to graduate school, there are also some factors students should keep in mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cStudents need to take into account the cost, location, and whether the program is in person or online,\u201d Hammonds explained. \u201cThere\u2019s just a lot of things to consider that may differ program to program.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Troy University offers several options for graduate programs, but before they can begin classes, students have to complete the application process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cStudents usually want to start by talking with their advisors, their professors, their friends, and looking online to get information about different programs,\u201d Hammonds said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hammonds says the most important part of the process is to stay on top of things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cStart early and prepare. There are a lot of things you have to do to apply to graduate schools. Always be aware of the deadlines.
