(<a href=\"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 TROY&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.troy.edu\/student-life-resources\/groups-organizations\/student-government-association\/troy-sga\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Student Government Association<\/a>&#8216;s (SGA) presidential office will soon have a new occupant. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the 2024 executive officer elections, Betsy Bennett was elected president of Troy University\u2019s SGA. However, that\u2019s not where her on-campus political career began.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;I&#8217;ve been in SGA since I was a freshman,&#8221; said Bennett. &#8220;I did Freshman Forum, which is sort of the freshman branch of SGA, and then I also was the public relations chair for SGA my sophomore year, and then this year, I serve as the vice president of campus affairs.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before Bennett even set foot on TROY&#8217;s campus, she already knew she wanted to be involved and make a difference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/2024\/02\/29\/candidates-share-visions-for-the-future-of-the-sga\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">KEEP READING: Candidates share visions for the future of the SGA<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;In high school, I did SGA, and I knew I wanted to get involved coming in,&#8221; Bennett explained. &#8220;I thought this was the perfect way for me to kind of get acclimated to college, and also meet a diverse group of people that I probably wouldn&#8217;t meet every day.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bennett has kept that mentality throughout her time in college, and plans to carry it into her presidency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;I really want to make students aware of the resources that we have available on campus, just because a lot of students don&#8217;t know about these and we can really become more aware of all of these resources.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bennett said she wants students to know their opinion matters to her and to the SGA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;I think it&#8217;s so important that everyone makes sure that you have a voice on our campus and use that voice,&#8221; Bennett told TrojanVision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bennett will be inaugurated on April 9, 2024.
