(<a href=\"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014  There are many different ways to celebrate the beginning of Spring; one way people of the Hindu tradition celebrate is with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/story\/holi-festival-of-colors\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Holi<\/a> festival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Holi is the Hindu Festival of Colors. It marks the beginning of Spring and a triumph of good over evil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;It was a surprise for us that the university organized a Holi for us, and it was very good,&#8221; Abhishek Singh, an international graduate student said. &#8220;Many international students are all there and we are all playing and having fun!&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One student told TrojanVision this day marks one of the most meaningful times of his year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Usually I had a tough time getting up for school, but for Holi I would get up, and it would mean playing with colors, especially in water all day,&#8221; Indranil Chopde, an international student from India said. &#8220;To this day, one of the fondest memories I have is from Holi.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/2024\/03\/25\/sga-holds-unity-walk-amid-dei-controversy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CAMPUS COVERAGE: SGA holds <\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/2024\/03\/25\/sga-holds-unity-walk-amid-dei-controversy\/\">Unity Walk amid DEI controversy<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For many international students who are far from home, having familiar festivals here in Alabama can ease homesickness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p>&#8220;It\u2019s kind of difficult staying away from home, especially during a festival, but seeing the university put something together for this festival, it means a lot.&#8221;<\/p><cite>Indranil Chopde, TROY International student<\/cite><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">International students weren\u2019t the only ones taking part in the fun. Some domestic students say they learned a lot and had a great time while doing it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;It\u2019s important not only to the people who\u2019s culture it\u2019s representing, but also for students like me who are from this area who are not familiar with these sorts of traditions, so that I can get a little more insight about what actually goes on in different countries,&#8221; Betsy Bennett, a Troy student said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even though you may not belong to a certain tradition, Bennet says it\u2019s important to learn about other cultures to increase your global competency.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TROY, Ala.
