(<a href=\"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 Students brought their cookie decorating skills as Women in STEM and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/TroyISCO\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">International Student Cultural Organization<\/a> hosted a \u201cScience of Baking\u201d night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The groups kicked the night off with a short presentation about the science that is needed in order for baking to work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cTonight, I really wanted to show people that cooking and baking is science,\u201d said Women in STEM Vice President Ahnayah Preston.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then, students went straight to making their own icing and decorating their cookies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI made a globe for ISCO,\u201d said ISCO President Haley Morgan. \u201cIt was really good! It was surprisingly good for how easy it was to make.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/2024\/03\/27\/holi-festival-brings-color-spring-to-troys-campus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>CAMPUS COVERAGE:<\/strong> Holi festival brings color, Spring to TROY\u2019s campus<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Students used precise measurements to create their icing from scratch. This was to meant to show how science and baking go hand-in-hand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cMeasurements are essential in both science and baking, and that\u2019s what I wanted to integrate into today,\u201d Preston said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The event served as a way for ISCO and Women in Stem to help students build connections through a fun and educational activity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThey learned about different desserts, they played a game about learning new flags, and I think it just brought everyone together in unison,\u201d Preston explained. \u201cI think that\u2019s the most beautiful part of it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI think it\u2019s important for two very different clubs to come together and get each demographic of what they bring to the table to mingle,\u201d Morgan said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After decorating their cookies, students were free to eat them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Women in Stem\u2019s last event of the semester will be a pizza and pajama party on April 17.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TROY, Ala.
