(<a href=\"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TROJANVISION<\/a>)  \u2014 The Troy Environmental Club hosted a \u201cReduce, reuse, recycle\u201d event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Students could either donate or take lightly used school supplies so they don\u2019t go to waste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe are giving away free clothes, shoes, school supplies, and we are also doing a recycling drive,\u201d said Environmental Club President Karli Chamberlin. \u201cOur initiative today is to make sure people know that you don\u2019t have to buy brand new things every time a new school year comes around.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The club collected items such as binders, folders, paper, and other supplies. It also held a recycling drive for students to drop off any reusable items.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>EARTH WEEK 2024:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/2024\/04\/24\/troy-environmental-club-celebrates-earth-day\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Troy Environmental Club celebrates Earth Day<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/2024\/04\/23\/students-decorate-reusable-bags-encourage-eco-sustainability\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Students decorate reusable bags, encourage eco-sustainability<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe just want to make sure that good used items aren\u2019t being thrown away just because people don\u2019t have the space for them anymore,\u201d Chamberlain explained. \u201cWe understand that it\u2019s difficult to run to the recycling center every time you have a box or every time you go grocery shopping.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She continued, \u201cWe are offering to take all of that and recycle it for you so you don\u2019t have to.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The event was part of Earth week. Chamberlin says club members wanted to help not only the community, but the planet, too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt\u2019s not only helping people, but it\u2019s helping our planet,\u201d she said. \u201cThat is what we stand for as the Environmental Club. Whether it\u2019s for you, other people, or for generations to come, it has a lasting impact. Even small things make such a big difference.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The club plans to donate and recycle all of the items dropped off.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TROY, Ala.
