TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 Heather and Onick Lewis hosted the second annual O\u2019s Cool Bike Ride in remembrance of their son who unexpectedly lost his life in 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s all about Owen and his favorite things,\u201d said Owen\u2019s mother, Heather Lewis. \u201cWe just want to serve him to the best of our ability to keep his memory alive in all ways.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The community gathered together to not only participate in the bike ride, but also to remember the life of 2-year-old Owen Wayne Lewis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHe was the sweetest, cutest little thing with the curliest, prettiest little hair,\u201d said Jordan Adams, one of Owen\u2019s teachers. \u201cWe just want to come and support. We love Owen just like he was our own.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI had him as an infant,\u201d said Heather Barron, another one of Owen\u2019s teachers. \u201cWe loved him. He was the cutest little thing with that curly hair coming in.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n

The Lewis family created a foundation to spread awareness about Lymphocytic Myocarditis<\/a> and raise funds for a scholarship to give back to the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEvery single one of these riders is helping to fund our foundation and to keep us going for next year so that we can give more balance bikes, give a bigger scholarship and give more scholarship,\u201d Lewis said. \u201cIt just means so much to see the support that we have from our community.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This event also served as a way for the community to support the Lewis\u2019s on the anniversary of Owen\u2019s death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe cool thing about living in Troy is supporting one another,\u201d said Chris Corr, a friend of the Lewis family. \u201cHeather and Onick are a part of this community.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event had several different length bike rides, as well as a walk for those who didn\u2019t\u00a0want to ride. There were also several activities and a \u201ctrot around the quad\u201d for children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
