TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 The TroyFest Art and Craft Festival<\/a> returned, bringing artists from all around the Wiregrass to the heart of downtown Troy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many artists came to not only sell their products but also celebrate alongside friends and family. Katie Hughes, owner of Eye Catchers Artworks<\/a>, has attended TroyFest for over six years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“This is one of my favorite shows,” Painter told TrojanVision. “Troy is only 30, 40 minutes from me. I get to reach a lot of people this way. I have family from Luverne, too, so I get a little closer to that area as well. I have a lot of repeat customers in Troy. They’re so kind and they come back every year for my art. You can’t put a price on that sort of support.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As Hughes returned for her next year of TroyFest, another vendor experienced the festival for the first time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It’s been really great,” said artist Barbara Ann of Creature Collective<\/a>. “It’s actually one of the best put together festivals we’ve done.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TroyFest was originally created as a memorial to Jean Thompson Lake, who was a Troy resident back in 1929. According to TroyFest’s website, Lake was known as a “fun-loving, free-spirited” artist who organized many shows alongside her friends. After her death in 1976, Thompson’s friends approached the Troy Council on the Arts and Humanities to host what eventually would become TroyFest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TroyFest not only featured art, it also routinely includes food trucks, plant nurseries, performances by local entertainment and children’s activities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
