TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 Students may be gone, but that doesn’t mean Troy University’s IDEA Bank<\/a> is closed; instead, it’s working to help entrepreneurs via its summer workshop series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the next few weeks, the IDEA Bank, the City of Troy<\/a> and the Pike County Chamber of Commerce will hold a Take Control of Your Business summer workshop series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I work with the City of Troy a lot and with the Pike County Chamber of Commerce<\/a> a lot and we’re always brainstorming what do our businesses need,” IDEA Bank Director Lynne George explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to George, social media was one of the most highly-requested topics entrepreneurs wanted to learn more about.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Social media is always one of the top things that people come back with of ‘I want more resources on this. I don’t know where to start. I need help with this.'”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We started by just coming to the IDEA Bank, sitting down at the round table and just discussing all the different ideas,” Pike County Chamber of Commerce President Bethany Allen told TrojanVision. “We know the demand is here. They want to know how to be successful on social media so we got to get the right presenters to come in.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the workshop presenters gave advice for both newer and pre-established businesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“You could have someone who’s been doing this for years or somebody who’s started from scratch,” Allen explained. “Make sure they have the resources needed from starting all the way through to continuing their success.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What are some tips for seeing more success on social media?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Know your audience,” Allen said. “Be consistent. Continue with your branding, stay true to your brand. Don’t be afraid to try new things and just give the people what they want to see.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
