(<a href=\"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 During <a href=\"https:\/\/www.troy.edu\/applications-admissions\/orientation\/troy-orientation.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">IMPACT: New Student Orientation<\/a>, parents of incoming freshmen meet members of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.troy.edu\/student-life-resources\/student-resources\/campus-safety\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Troy University Police Department<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Campus police recently got the opportunity to speak with parents of incoming freshmen about what they are doing to keep TROY&#8217;s campus safe, and its students, safe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We have courtesy escorts,&#8221; said TUPD Sgt. Rachel Farmer. &#8220;So if you&#8217;re ever out at the library late at night, you&#8217;re anywhere that you would like an escort, we can come and we&#8217;ll walk you back to where you&#8217;re going.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Along with courtesy escorts, police can also help students unlock their cars and dorm rooms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We also offer unlock services,&#8221; Farmer said. &#8220;We can get you in and out of those places if you&#8217;ve locked your keys in. We also do jump-offs for your vehicles; we will come out and help you change a tire in the event that any of that happens.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/2024\/07\/02\/incoming-freshmen-meet-troys-student-groups\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>CAMPUS COVERAGE:<\/strong> Incoming freshmen meet TROY\u2019s student groups<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For some parents, the chance to meet with university police can serve as a comforting experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Hearing how the TROY police are working with the county officials, the sheriff&#8217;s department, the city, was a good aspect to be aware of that it&#8217;s all hands on deck if needed,&#8221; said Camille Alderman, a parent of an incoming freshman. &#8220;Just listening to him was very comforting this morning and knowing that &#8216;Hey, my daughter&#8217;s in a safe place&#8217;.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not only did the event shape views about TROY&#8217;s campus, it also shaped parents&#8217; view of the city of Troy as a whole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I really feel what TROY has to offer in its little sanctuary here on campus and just the surrounding area of the City of Troy is just a truly safe place to be,&#8221; Alderman said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is the second year that TUPD has met with parents.
