TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 Troy University<\/a> deans greeted students over a bowl of ice cream during week two of Welcome Week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Conversations were had and connections were made as students enjoyed a sweet treat while getting to know the deans of Troy University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“This is Dipping with the Deans,” said Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Dr. Kerry Palmer<\/a>. “Its an opportunity for students to come and meet your academic deans. We had serval that showed up today so we can put a face to the name. We hope that if they have issues that they need help with while they’re here then they’ll know someone that they can go to.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students were able to voice their concerns and ask questions over a bowl of ice cream. Palmer said he wants to help the students he serves and learn more about them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I think its important for our students to know the administration here at the university and to know how much we all care about them. One of the things I think has made troy such a special place for so long is the relationships we have with our students.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For some students who are new to TROY, Dipping with the Deans helped them be more comfortable on campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I really was just interested in it because it said something about the dean on it and I’m really trying to put myself out there this year,” said student Kathyln Morrison. “It made me like want to come to more things on campus and be able to actually have connections.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“If I’m able to talk to them, I’m trying to see information and how can I join groups around here,” student Tyler Rainge said. “Free ice cream and I was trying to see what talking with the deans was about.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although students may not interact with TROY’s upper administration as often as their professors, Palmer said he hopes students know they have admin’s full support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I’d like for students to understand that all of us are here to support them on their academic journey. Its always a pleasure to see our young people and watch them at work and get to know them.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
