(<a href=\"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 The Crenshaw County Alcazar Shrine Club is holding what it calls the &#8220;world&#8217;s largest peanut boil.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This year marks the 54th time the Shriners have held the boil. The event has support from people in and around the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;I come every year,&#8221; said customer Melinda Defee. &#8220;I&#8217;m from Luverne. I live in Brantley, which is just about 10 minutes away, but I still come every year.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">More than 30 tons of peanuts are expected to boiled this weekend. Organizers say all of the money raised during the boil will go to a good cause.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/2024\/08\/21\/what3words-transforms-how-police-respond-to-emergency-calls\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>LOCAL NEWS:<\/strong> \u2018What3words\u2019 transforms how police respond to emergency calls<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;We support Alcazar Shriners in Montgomery, Alabama, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shrinersinternational.org\/en\/chapters\/alcazar-shriners\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Shriners International<\/a>,&#8221; said Crenshaw County Shriner President Andy Compton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Customers like Defee say they purchase peanuts and offer their support in return for the Shriners&#8217; help throughout the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;I also have a cousin who comes out and helps every year because the Shriners helped his family when he had a big house fire.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The annual peanut boil has turned into an event that not only the surrounding community supports but also travelers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;People come from all over the place and a lot of people who are traveling on the Labor Day weekend always plan to come through here,&#8221; Defee said. &#8220;So don&#8217;t snooze or you might lose.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The peanut boil will run until Monday or until there are no more peanuts.
