TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 Troy Soccer<\/a> marked its first shutout of the year after competing against Lipscomb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After two unsuccessful away matches, Troy Soccer came home and recorded a 1-0 victory over Lipscomb at the Troy Soccer Complex.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI think we edged it, since the second half was more them,\u201d said head coach Stuart Gore<\/a>. \u201cI think that\u2019s just the nature of the game, the nature of the score. They were trying to chase the game.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the Trojans were tied with the Bison\u2019s 0-0 before halftime, freshman Hailey Phillips headed the ball into the goal, putting the Trojans on the board while marking her first goal of her collegiate career.

\u201cIt was a tough match,\u201d said midfielder Hailey Phillips<\/a>. \u201cIt was definitely tiring with a lot of running, but the greats came out with the win. I think we played better, since going out there was all we wanted.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throughout the game, Troy made four shots on goal and held their strongest offensive performance of the season. Moving forward, the team intends to keep the momentum high as they continue on throughout the season.

\u201cWe just have to keep facing a different opponent,\u201d Gore said. \u201cWe were on the road, so we just got to focus on the next game and see what they have for us.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The game-winner was set by goalkeeper Une Georgsen<\/a>, who also anchored the Trojan Defense that day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
