(<a href=\"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 The race to the White House is on and Troy students&#8217; votes will help decide the outcome. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As the election draws closer, some students have mixed feelings about the candidates and election process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;My personal thoughts is that this election is really important for the next several years,&#8221; said student Samaaria Thompson. &#8220;What we need as an economy and what we need as a country.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;ve kind of tried to stay neutral about it, I guess. I&#8217;ve really tried to not get myself super involved with it,&#8221; said Justin Wallace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students also have different ways they get their news about the election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Personally, I go to google to just look it up or I go to my dad. He&#8217;s very into politics, so I&#8217;ll just ask him, hey is this something good,&#8221; Thompson explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I look at CNN on my phone. I look at the all the major news outlets that are unbiased, to an extent,&#8221; Wallace told TrojanVision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/2024\/08\/30\/nphc-hosts-voter-summit-helps-students-check-voter-status\/\"><strong>RELATED NEWS: <\/strong>NPHC hosts Voter Summit, helps students check voter status<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some students wish their candidates would answer their questions directly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Why? Why did you decide to actually run? Especially now,&#8221; asked student Ricardo Valencia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I would ask what&#8217;s in it for me? Having a definitive answer as to what we get out of what they&#8217;re trying to push on us is definitely a big thing for me,&#8221; Wallace explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Candidates are addressing several pressing issues in this upcoming election, but what do students care about?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I hope for a little more transparency. I think, recently, we&#8217;ve had a lot of people say a lot of things without doing a lot of things,&#8221; said Valencia. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I hope to see change in financial aid and helping students and adults who are struggling financially,&#8221; said Thompson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The presidential election will take place Tuesday, Nov. 8.
