TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 Monday night, the university’s Chinese Culture Club brought domestic and international students together for an annual celebration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each years, thousands of families gather in their homes to celebrate one of the most cherished traditions in East Asia: the Mid-Autumn Festival<\/a>. Since many international students are away from their families during the event, Troy’s Chinese Culture Club offered a way for students to celebrate together. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Our goal is to bring people together while having fun,” said Director of China Operations Sylvia Li. “having having some Chinese food and just get to know some foreign culture.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the event moon cakes were served and traditional Chinese dances were performed by a few international students from China. Performances included traditional dragon and lion dances, guzheng and popular K-pop songs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We have opportunities to perform what whatever we want to do,” said Chinese International Program Graduate Assistant Yixuan Wei. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Mid-Autumn Festival was not only an opportunity for international students, but also for Troy’s domestic students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It’s very nice to learn about something you have no idea about and how someone grew up and the traditions they hold,” said International Student Cultural Organization (ISCO) President Nautica Morgan. “I think that’s a really nice thing to be interested in and I hope it made some people interested.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Mid-Autumn Festival falls on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month during what’s believed to be the fullest moon of the year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
