TROY, Ala. (TROJANVISION<\/a>) \u2014 Students marched through campus to raise awareness for world peace during Troy University’s annual Peace March. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students from all races, cultures, and countries marched from Hawkins Hall to the International Arts Center<\/a> (IAC) for the International Student Cultural Organization<\/a>‘s (ISCO) Peace March, which fell on International Day of Peace 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Peace is usually thought of on a very global scale and tends to go to more anti-war sentiments which I also agree with,” said Icie Wallace, a peace march participant. “For me, peace starts in the heart and really has to do with how we treat others on a more personal level.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

INTERNATIONAL NEWS:<\/strong> Mid-Autumn Festival unites international and domestic students<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Behind the IAC is the Wounded Peace Dove statue, which was created by the late Alabama artist Fred “Nall” Hollis<\/a>. The dove represents the sin of war, but also peace. After the march, students surrounded the dove while holding national flags from the around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It’s very nice to have us come together and talk about peace,” Nautica Morgan, ISCO president, said. “It’s not something you can bring up lightly in a conversation. So to have something like this on campus especially when it’s for credits or a class, it really helps promote having those conversations between students.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ISCO now turns its attention to its annual ISCO Festival. That will take place in November and is meant to showcase multiple cultures around the globe.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
