(<a href=\"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TROJANVISION<\/a>)\u00a0\u2014 A local museum gave members of the community and surrounding areas a glimpse of what it was like to live during pioneer times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trying to see the world through a lens of which you didn&#8217;t live may be hard. That&#8217;s when the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pioneer-museum.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Pioneer Museum of Alabama<\/a> steps in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Pioneer Days is the museum&#8217;s biggest annual event,&#8221; Babara Tatom, Director of Pioneer Museum of Alabama, said. &#8220;It&#8217;s a time we bring demonstrators reenactors that demonstrate all different periods of Alabama history.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Erin Sanders, who lives in Elba, made the drive with her daughter and young cousins. She says Pioneer Day combines history with fun.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I just want them to have an appreciation for how much people used to struggle so they can value how easy it is to do things nowadays,&#8221; Sanders explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/today.troy.edu\/trojanvision\/2024\/10\/11\/troy-utilities-provides-assistance-in-helene-aftermath\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>COMMUNITY NEWS: Troy Utilities provides assistance in Helene aftermath<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pioneer Day isn&#8217;t made up of only locals. Reenactors and demonstrators from around the country come to Troy to help. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Having a quality event like this, having skilled people that know what they are doing and having activities that the kids can participate in is important,&#8221; Tatom told TrojanVision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sanders told TrojanVision, she enjoyed her first experience at Pioneer Day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;It is very well done. You can tell they put a lot of thought and effort into the structure of the activities as well as the museum itself and I would highly recommend that people bring their families here.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pioneer Day takes place the second Friday and Saturday in October every year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/PioneerMuseumTroy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Pioneer Museum of Alabama<\/a>&#8216;s next event will be an Ole Time Christmas in December.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TROY, Ala.
